Marla Gibbs to Be Honored With Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Marla Gibbs is a star in her own right, now The Jeffersons and 227 actress is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce made the announcement in a press release, saying Gibbs will be honored in a ceremony on Tuesday, July 20.

The event will be held on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Jimmy Kimmel Live studio, and fans can also stream the ceremony.

“Marla is one of the world’s most beloved and talented actresses known around the world. Her feistiness and tenacity for her work are legendary and we are proud to welcome her to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said in a statement.

After studying in Los Angeles at the Mafundi Institute and the Watts Writers Workshop, Gibbs received multiple theater roles before becoming a household name for her portrayal of Florence on CBS sitcom The Jeffersons.

The Chicago native then starred in, developed and executive produced 227. The 90-year-old Hollywood veteran is also a singer and performed and co-wrote the theme song to the sitcoms 227 and Checking In.

She will receive the 2,698th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony takes place Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. PT.
