Lil Nas X Brings High-Fashion Drama to VMAs Red Carpet

Lil Nas X slayed the red carpet Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The “Industry Baby” rapper commanded attention with an over-the-top black ensemble from British-American designer Harris Reed.

The topless look featured a feathered hoop skirt, matching headpiece, and black pants.

“This is heavy and it is Harris Reed,” Lil Nas X told People magazine on the carpet. “It’s something fresh, something new, I feel amazing.”

The rapper stepped into the awards at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey with seven VMAs nominations.

Lizzo also arrived in a dramatic all-black ensemble.

The “Grrrls” singer wore a voluminous, off-the-shoulder Jean Paul Gaultier gown with matching gloves, black lipstick, a gold lip ring, multiple hoop earrings and slicked-back hair.

She shared pictures of the look on Instagram and said it was fresh off the runway.

Keeping with the all-black theme, LL Cool J rocked a look from Harlem designer Dapper Dan.

The ensemble featured leather pants, a matching jacket and T-shirt with silver jewelry.

“We in the building,” the rapper and actor captioned an Instagram post showing off his VMAs look.

LL Cool J co-hosted the show with Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow.

The night’s performers included Anitta, BLACKPINK, J Balvin, Jack Harlow, Kane Brown, Lizzo, Måneskin, Marshmello x Khalid and Panic! At The Disco, and Bad Bunny.

In addition to the performances , the Red Hot Chili Peppers received MTV’s Global Icon Award, and Nicki Minaj picked up the 2022 Video Vanguard Award.
