Laverne Cox, who has been the face of E! Entertainment’s red carpet coverage for three years, is leaving the network days before Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.

Cox made the announcement in a statement on Instagram Thursday, Jan. 2.

“With an incredible amount of gratitude, I’ve decided not to return as host of #LiveFromE’s red carpet coverage,” Cox wrote. “I’m so incredibly proud of the work we did over my three year tenure. I’d like to express my sincere thanks to everyone at @nbcuniversal, @eentertainment and @denofthievestv for your incredible support.”

The post included a video montage of fun moments from the red carpet.

“These moments are a reminder to me of what an incredible privilege it has been to talk to some of the world’s greatest artists about their work, navigating the pressures of success, etc,” Cox continued. “I’m so excited to keep growing, evolving and exploring great opportunities as an actress, artist, host and speaker.”

She then mentioned an upcoming project and encouraged fans to watch.

“I hope you’ll all continue to go with me on my evolving journey,” she added. “Tune into my new comedy series Clean Slate premiering on Amazon Prime February 6.”

Cox joined E! in May 2021, replacing longtime host Giuliana Rancic, as previously reported.

E! confirmed to Urban Hollywood 411 Friday afternoon that Cox would not participate in this weekend’s Globes coverage.

Instead, a rep directed us to details on the network’s website outlining their  coverage plans.

Access Hollywood co-host Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahan will take over the network’s red carpet coverage. (Both E! and Access fall under the NBC Universal umbrella).

E! News co-host Keltie Knight will join the pair to offer “hot takes on all the fabulous fashion and style trends, previewing the night’s most anticipated moments and predicting this year’s big winners.”

The Golden Globes kick off Hollywood’s 2025 awards season.

The awards air live nationwide on CBS and stream on Paramount+ Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. Details on the nominees can be found here.
