Kristoff St. John, who played Neil Winters on CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, has died, according to his attorney Mark Geragos. The actor was 52.

Geragos posted a tribute to St. John Monday morning on Twitter.

“Few men had the unique strength, courage & sensitivity that Kristoff St. John lived every single minute of every day,” Geragos wrote. “He impacted everyone he met and millions who he inspired and in turn admired him. On behalf of Mia St. John & The St John Family thank you for all of your love.”

St. John was pronounced dead at his home in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. His cause of death was not released.

Los Angeles police responded to a death report at the home in the 2300 block of Morea Way at 2:05 p.m Sunday, Sgt. Frank Preciado of the LAPD Media Relations Division told Urban Hollywood 411.

Police were called to the scene after the actor’s friends went to check on him and found him unresponsive, TMZ reported.

St. John joined the cast of Y&R in 1991. He won two Daytime Emmy Awards for his work on the show, his CBS biography said. He also won several NAACP Image Awards for the role.

Tragedy struck the actor’s family in November 2014, when his 24-year-old son Julian committed suicide during a stay at a mental health hospital in Long Beach, Calif.

St. John and his first wife, boxer Mia St. John, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the facility claiming negligence by staff members.

Mia St. John reportedly posted and later deleted a tweet on Monday morning about the actor’s death, blaming the hospital where their son died.

“THAT HOSPITAL KILLED OUR SON @TheArtofJulian THEN MY HUSBAND @kristoffstjohn1. THATS WHAT HAPPENED! THEY KILLED MY FAMILY,” she wrote.

According to the Y&R website, Kristoff St. John has two other children, daughters Paris and Lola.
