Steve Mauldin, president and general manager of KCBS-KCAL, said in a statement he is “thrilled” to have Morgan join the team.
“He is an outstanding broadcast journalist with tremendous breaking news experience who will add his own special brand of integrity and enthusiasm to our morning newscasts,” Mauldin stated.
Prior to joining KCBS, Morgan has been a New York-based CBS News correspondent since 2015. He previously held positions at WXIA-TV in Atlanta, WNBC-TV in New York, and WTVJ-TV in Miami.
The journalist has covered many high-profile news events throughout the years, including Aretha Franklin’s funeral in August 2018, and the October 2018 kidnapping of Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs.
Morgan’s first day at the station is May 6.
