Sunday, Sept. 25 marked another impressive Verzuz battle between legendary soul singers.

The highly anticipated event that has been averaging over 1 million views per battle, turned up the heat for a fun competition between Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight. Fans were also treated to a surprise appearance by Dionne Warwick.

“We are so happy to be together,” LaBelle said at the beginning of the music event on Instragram Live. “We’ve been together for many, many, many years.”

During the three-hour show, Knight performed “Midnight Train to Georgia,” and LaBelle sang “If You Asked Me To” — after reminding viewers that she recorded the Diane Warren-written track before Celine Dion.

LaBelle also performed “Lady Marmalade” and “The Alphabet Song,”  which many may recall as her famous number from Sesame Street. Fans got another treat when Dionne Warwick graced the room with her incredible vocals.

Warwick performed “That’s What Friends Are For,” and then joined Knight and LaBelle for a rendition of “Superwoman” to end the show.

Verzuz was launched in March by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz to entertain music fans amid the coronavirus pandemic. Since they created the series, Verzuz has hosted battles between Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, Brandy and Monica, DMX and Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys and John Legend, and RZA and DJ Premier.
