C-SPAN said Monday it notified the FBI after a caller threatened to shoot CNN anchors Don Lemon and Brian Stelter.
The call came Friday morning from a supporter of President Donald Trump during an “open phones” segment on the public affairs program, Washington Journal.
The viewer accused Lemon and Stelter of calling all Trump supporters “racists” and said: “They started the war, I see them I’m going to shoot them. Bye.”

Stelter ran video of the threat Sunday on his show, Reliable Sources.

“Threats against reporters on the rise. We decided to broadcast one of those threats on today’s @ReliableSources, so everyone can hear it for themselves,” he tweeted.

The C-SPAN call came after a series of insults from Trump, accusing CNN of broadcasting “fake news.”
He has also said NBC “is possibly worse than CNN,” called The New York Times “failing,” and described the media as the “enemy of the people.”
On Friday night, the president took to Twitter to bash CNN and Don Lemon yet again, this time calling the anchor “the dumbest man on television.”
