Creed II and Ralph Breaks the Internet propelled the box office to its best Thanksgiving weekend tally in history.
Ticket sales for the Wednesday to Sunday holiday moviegoing period were an estimated $314 million, from all movies combined. That marked the first time the Thanksgiving box office surpassed $300 million, according to box office tracking company Comscore.
The previous record of $294 million was set in 2013, when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was in theaters.
This weekend Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet topped the box office after collecting $55.6 million over the three-day weekend, and a stunning $84.4 million since its debut on Wednesday.

Creed II also landed a knockout punch, and brought in $35.3 million over three days. The film has made $55.8 million since Wednesday, for a second place finish.
The sequel to Creed, starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, landed the best opening ever in the Rocky cinematic universe.
“The first Creed film was a revelation to many who figured the Rocky saga had run its course,” Comscore Sr. Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian told Urban Hollywood 411. “That film presented a fresh take on the Rocky mythology and set the stage for the crowd and critic-pleasing Creed II.”
Creed II has an 82 percent positive rating from critics on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.
The MGM-New Line release is directed by Steven Caple Jr., and co-stars Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Phylicia Rashad and Dolph Lundgren.
The boxing drama bested the weekend opening of Ryan Coogler-directed Creed, which collected $42 million over the five-day Thanksgiving movie-going period in 2015.
Elsewhere this weekend, Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch slipped to third place with $30.2 million over three days.
Last week’s leader, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald was fourth with $29.6 million, and
Bohemian Rhapsody rounded out the top five with $13.8 million.
Lionsgate’s Robin Hood opened in a distant seventh place with $9.1 million. The film is described as “an action-packed retelling of the classic legend.” The action adventure stars Taron Egerton as Robin, and features Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin and Jamie Dornan in supporting roles.
After debuting in limited release on Nov. 16, Universal’s Green Book expanded nationwide but struggled to find an audience in crowded theaters.
The critically acclaimed film starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali landed in ninth place after earning a disappointing $5.4 million over the three-day weekend, and $7.4 million since Wednesday.
