Comedian Craig Robinson was evacuated from a comedy club in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday night after a gunman entered the venue and opened fire.

Robinson was set to perform at The Comedy Zone when the gunman entered the club shortly after 9 p.m., according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

“A male subject entered an establishment at the 900 block of NC Music Factory Boulevard. He brandished a firearm inside the business, which was quickly evacuated,” police said in a statement. “The suspect then discharged his weapon. There were no injuries and the suspect was taken into custody.”

Robinson took to Instagram overnight to share details about the incident and said everyone at the club was moved to the nearby Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre where the group Big Time Rush was performing.

“I’m performing at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina,” Robinson said as music played in the background. “There was an active shooter in the comedy club, so they moved us over to this — it’s a concert going on and it’s Big Time Rush, so, I thought I would share it with y’all.”

“I’m safe. It’s cool. We’re cool. It was just wild. I was in the green room and they’re like ‘everybody get out.’ It was a moment, for sure,” The Office star added.

On Sunday, Robinson posted a statement on Instagram praising police and the comedy club’s staff for their quick actions.

“About last night… Thank you to The Comedy Zone security and staff for getting us to safety quickly. Thank you everyone for your outpouring of support and well wishes. Thank you CMPD for swift action in apprehending the shooter. Hopefully he gets the help he needs,” he said. “Thanks be to God no one was hurt. Please stay safe everyone.”

Robinson currently stars in and executive produces the Peacock comedy series Killing It about an underdog pursuing the American Dream and facing absurd obstacles in the process.
