Chris Brown is facing a lawsuit by a man who alleges the singer assaulted him at a nightclub earlier this year and caused injuries requiring hospitalization.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the man said the R&B singer hit him over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila at TAPE nightclub in London. The alleged assault took place in February, when Brown was on the U.K. leg of his “Under the Influence” tour.

The man, who claimed he’s known the singer for the past seven years, said in his court filing that he thought Brown was approaching him to give him a hug.

However, the man went on to allege Brown delivered “crushing blows” to his head with a tequila bottle, knocking him unconscious. After he fell down, the man said the singer continued to kick and stomp on him as he laid passed out on the floor.

The lawsuit refers to surveillance video, which is claimed to have captured the alleged incident. According to the court docs, the footage is currently in the possession of local law enforcement.

Brown’s alleged victim added that he was hospitalized with potentially permanent injuries, including torn ligaments in his leg and cuts to his head, following the alleged attack.

In addition, the man said he is suffering from serious emotional distress and trauma. He is suing for damages.

This lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal problems for Chris Brown.

In Feb. 2009, a photo leaked of his then-girlfriend Rihanna with severe bruising on her face, leading to public outrage and criminal charges against Brown. The singer pleaded guilty to assault, and completed his probation in March 2015.

The aftermath of the incident saw Brown denied a visa to enter the U.K. in 2010, although the ban was lifted in 2020.

In June 2017, Brown’s ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, obtained a five-year restraining order against him, alleging he was physically abusive toward her, threatened her, and demanded the return of money and jewelry he had given her during their relationship.

Brown faced arrest in Jan. 2019, after a woman accused him of raping her at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Paris. However, no charges were filed. Brown vehemently denied the allegations at the time.

In Jan. 2022, a woman launched a $20 million lawsuit against Brown, claiming he had drugged and raped her on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ yacht in Miami, Florida, in December 2020.

However, the unnamed woman was later dropped by her legal representation in March 2022, after text messages between she and Brown raised questions about the case, per Rolling Stone.

Brown expressed his plans to take legal action in response to the allegations. “No more dragging me through the mud. Me and my team are taking legal action on this situation. You don’t play with people’s lives like that,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories at the time.
