He was identified as an affiliate of the Oath Keepers, a far-right American anti-government militia. While most insurrectionists wore camouflage with their outfits, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Beeks was “wearing a Michael Jackson ‘Bad’ world tour jacket and a black helmet, and he was carrying what appeared to be a homemade black shield.”

According to a statement of facts released by the FBI, Beeks was traveling on tour with “Jesus Christ Superstar” and performed under the stage name James T. Justis. He was playing the role of Judas according to an arrest warrant obtained by NBC News

The actor’s name and photo have since been removed from the cast page on the tour’s official website.

According to the FBI statement, Beeks was also found to be a Michael Jackson impersonator and also had videos on his YouTube page with the username jdmoonwalker.

In one of the videos, he can be seen singing “The Star Spangled Banner” next to a poster of the U.S. Constitution.

His previous Broadway credits include “Kinky Boots,” “Aida,” “Ragtime” and “Smokey Joe’s Cafe.”

Beeks was arrested in Milwaukee during a tour stop for the musical and was released until further court proceedings take place.
