Verne Troyer — who was best known for playing Mini Me in the Austin Powers films — died in April of suicide by alcohol intoxication, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Wednesday.

The coroner’s newly released autopsy report listed Troyer’s official cause of death as “sequelae of alcohol intoxication,” or alcohol abuse.

In April, he was rushed from his home in North Hollywood, Calif. to the hospital to be treated for alcohol intoxication, the coroner’s report said.

Three weeks later, the 49-year-old star died on April 21 of multiple organ failure. He had a blood alcohol level of more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 at the time of his death, according to the autopsy report.

The actor had a history of depression. When he called 911, he said during the call that he wanted to die, the coroner’s office said.

A statement on Troyer’s Instagram account announcing his death stated that he had been dealing with his “own battles.”

“Over the years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much,” the post said.

“Depression and suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one another. And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone for help,” the post continued.

Troyer was born with dwarfism, which caused him to stop growing at 2-feet-8-inches.
