Ashanti received the 2,718th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, and got emotional as she thanked her loved ones, including her mom Tina Douglas, for their continued support.
“Thank you to my family and friends for always supporting me. Mom, the original momager, my backbone, my lifetime, my dad Ken-Kaide… all of you guys are my foundation,” she said.

The singer-songwriter then began to break down.
“I love you guys so much. We’ve been through so many dark moments, so to be here today celebrating life together as a family and as a unit, I’m so grateful,” the 41-year-old “Foolish” performer said as she paused and fought back tears.
In addition to her family, Ashanti’s longtime collaborator Ja Rule and actress Tichina Arnold attended the ceremony in the heart of Hollywood at 7060 Hollywood Blvd.
The ceremony coincided with the 20th anniversary of the release of Ashanti’s self-titled debut studio album, which sold over 505,000 copies in its first week of release. The album also earned her a best contemporary R&B album Grammy Award.
