Aldis Hodge and Wunmi Mosaku will share the screen in the upcoming thriller One Night Out.
The two will star in the film, with George Tillman Jr. directing, Deadline reported exclusively Thursday.
Hodge and Mosaku play a married couple dealing with relationship problems who leave their three children with a babysitter for a rare evening out. But when they spot someone inside their home on the nanny cam, they rush home to save their children.
Tillman (The Hate U Give and Soul Food) said he’s wanted to work with the two actors for years.
“We’ve talked in the past about collaborating, but I’ve been looking for the right project for us to do together, and I’m very happy we found it in One Night Out,” said Tillman.
In addition to directing, Tillman will produce the film from Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures, alongside Bob Teitel.
Nelson Greaves wrote the script based on his own short story, with revisions by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.
The project gives Hodge another starring role at Amazon, where he leads the cast and executive produces the Prime Video crime drama Cross. Based on James Patterson’s novels, the hit crime series has been renewed for a third season.
Hodge’s upcoming projects also include Road House 2 opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, about a former UFC fighter trying to rebuild his life.
Mosaku joins the thriller following her Oscar-nominated turn in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. She also appears in Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning, which arrived in theaters Friday, Oct. 9. The film stars Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong and Mikey Madison.
Her other projects include a leading role in Idris Elba’s This Is How It Goes for Apple TV and Tim Blake Nelson’s thriller The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd.
A release date for One Night Out will be announced later.
