The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office released its full autopsy and investigative reports Friday on Naya Rivera, which revealed the actress called for help just before she drowned.
Rivera, 33, and her 4-year-old son Josey Dorsey were boating at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California on July 8.
Lake Piru is a reservoir located about 55 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. The area includes recreational facilities for camping, water sports and picnicking.
After getting into the water, Josey said his mother helped him climb back onto the boat before she disappeared, according to the autopsy report obtained by The Associated Press.
The little boy “noticed the decedent put her arm up in the air and yelled ‘Help,’” the report said. “The decedent then disappeared into the water.”
Josey is Rivera’s son with her former husband, actor Ryan Dorsey. The child was found alone on a rented boat later that day, prompting a search for his mother. Josey was wrapped in a towel and had been wearing a life jacket.

Rescue crews spread out across the lake to find Rivera and confirmed her death on July 13, five days after she disappeared.
The death was ruled an accidental drowning in July, however, the autopsy report is the first time authorities have said the actress called for help.
The autopsy noted that while Rivera “knew how to swim well,” she had a history of vertigo which “would get worse when she was in the water.”
The toxicology report revealed that the Glee star had been prescribed adderall for anxiety and an unknown medication for a sinus infection. She had a small amount of the anti-anxiety drug diazepam and the appetite suppressant phentermine in her system.
Rivera is a Southern California native, and starred on Glee from 2009-2015.
