Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated the christening of their two-month-old son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on Saturday.

The new parents were surrounded by family, including Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, and Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.

But two members of the royal family were noticeably absent — Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip.

The head the British monarchy did not attend due to a prior commitment, U.K. paper The Sun reported.

While the Queen’s absence seemed unusual, she also missed last year’s christening of Prince Louis, William and Kate’s third child. Although she did attend their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s christenings.

A message on Harry and Meghan’s official Instagram page said the two “feel fortunate,” and thanked the public for its support.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son,” the message said. “They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.”

Despite the Queen’s absence this weekend at great-grandson Archie’s baptism, it still appeared to be a very happy occasion.

Baby Archie was dressed in a “christening gown” that’s been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years.

This latest christening took place in a private chapel at Windsor Castle, where Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, were married in May 2018.
