Author Kennedy Ryan’s bestselling romance novel Before I Let Go is headed from the page to the screen.
Peacock has ordered a series adaptation of the emotional love story from Universal Global Television and Universal Television, divisions of Universal Studio Group, the streaming platform announced this week.
The drama centers on Yasmen and Josiah Wade, a married couple whose relationship falls apart after they experience back-to-backlosses. The tragedy leads to divorce and shared custody of their children.
As Yasmen begins to find joy again, her proximity to Josiah keeps their connection alive while reopening old wounds. Lingering feelings eventually force them to question whether their love story is truly over or if they could find forever the second time around, according to the official description.
Ryan created the series with filmmaker Malcolm D. Lee. The two also co-wrote the pilot and will serve as executive producers.
“Getting the chance to bring the ‘Skyland’ series to life onscreen is a dream come true,” Ryan said in a statement. “These characters have meant so much to so many readers, and none of this would be possible without the people who have supported my work for years.”
Lee noted he became invested in the characters after reading Ryan’s Skyland book series.
“Adapting the pilot with her has been an absolute treasure to experience, and we plan on bringing all the feels to her fans and her new TV family,” he added.
Sisters Attica Locke and Tembi Locke will serve as showrunners, writers and executive producers. The pair previously co-created and executive produced the Netflix limited series From Scratch, which reached the platform’s Global Top 10 in 84 countries.

John Legend and Mike Jackson will executive produce through Get Lifted Film Co., alongside veteran producer Debra Martin Chase.

We’re incredibly proud of the powerful script Kennedy and Malcolm D. Lee have written, and we’re thrilled to have Attica and Tembi Locke guiding the series as showrunners,” Legend and Jackson said.
