‘P-Valley’ to End With Season 3 as Starz Sets December Premiere

The dancers on P-Valley will soon take their final bow as the series nears its conclusion after three seasons.

Starz announced Thursday, Sept. 10, the acclaimed drama will return for its third and final season on Dec. 4.

Alongside the announcement, series creator and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Katori Hall shared a heartfelt goodbye letter to fans.

“There comes a moment when every stripper must hang up her heels,” Hall wrote. “Seventeen years into this dance, that time has come.”

She continued, “The rarest honor a showrunner can have in today’s industry is to end a series on her own terms. This is why I chose to say goodbye with grace, grit and glitter, lowering the curtain on P-Valley at season 3 with a farewell y’all truly deserve.”

Hall began writing the story in 2009 after speaking with more than 40 dancers while conducting research. The project first became a stage play before making its television debut as P-Valley in 2020.

The nine-episode final season of the Mississippi-set strip club drama will premiere with two episodes directed by Hall.

Per Starz, the season takes viewers back to The Pynk, where Uncle Clifford, played by Nicco Annan, hopes for a major business expansion. Meanwhile, the newly opened Promised Land Casino brings money, opportunity and fresh trouble to Chucalissa.

Roulette, portrayed by Gail Bean, breaks one of the club’s cardinal rules to build her own empire. Lil’ Murda, played by J. Alphonse Nicholson, faces mounting pressure from his gang ties, while Shannon Thornton’s Keyshawn “fights to break free and take flight.”

The cast also includes Brandee Evans, Loretta Devine, Harriett D. Foy, Psalms Salazar, Morocco Omari, and Thomas Q. Jones.

A teaser trailer for the season includes the new single “Homegrown” from Lil’ Murda featuring FendiDa Rappa.

“P-Valley has been embraced by critics and fans for the same reasons it has been brand-defining for Starz: because of its courageously bold, powerfully provocative, and deeply inclusive storytelling,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for the network.

The series was nominated for an Emmy and has won multiple NAACP Image Awards, including for Outstanding Drama Series.

Season 2 debuted in June 2022, and Starz renewed the drama for a third season in October of that year. The second season averaged 11.6 million viewers across multiple platforms, according to Starz.

The third and final season of P-Valley premieres Friday, Dec. 4. New episodes will stream weekly on Fridays following the two-episode premiere.
