Ariana Grande will step away from the stage and screen after her sold-out Eternal Sunshine Tour ends in September, because of “endless” public scrutiny.
A rep for the singer and actress released a statement to People on Sunday, Aug. 2, detailing Grande’s plans.
“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” the statement read. “She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”
The rep added, “This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”
Sources close to the Grammy-winning artist also confirmed she dropped out of a West End revival of “Sunday in the Park With George” in London. She had been booked to headline the show with her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey next summer.
Grande’s physical appearance has become a trending topic on social media in recent months, with fans expressing concern about her health after noticing she appeared to have lost weight.

Her eighth studio album titled Petal was released Friday, July 31. The music video for the title track was posted on the singer’s official YouTube channel. Thousands of fans filled the comment section to express concern about the singer’s well-being.
Last week, Page Six published an article with a headline reading, “Ariana Grande sparks concern over weight loss in new ‘Petal’ music video.”
The Daily Mail published a similar article on July 31, saying the singer “raises concerns with alarmingly thin figure.”
Grande, 33, has spent decades in the spotlight. She began performing in local theater near her hometown of Boca Raton, Florida, before being cast in ensemble Nickelodeon series Victorious, which made her a teen sensation.
She received an Oscar nomination last year for her performance in the two-part Universal Pictures adaptation of Wicked.
