Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black isn’t ending after all.
Netflix said Thursday it renewed the drama for a fourth season, reversing an earlier decision to cancel the show.
The surprise renewal comes months after the streaming giant announced in December 2025 that Beauty in Black had been renewed for a third and final season. Now, fans can expect even more drama from the Bellarie family beyond season 3. No reason was given for the reversal.
“Beauty in Black is back for season 4 and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished,” Perry said in a statement.
“There was so much more I wanted to explore and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!” Perry added.
The series stars Taylor Polidore Williams, Crystle Stewart, Amber Reign Smith, Xavier Smalls, Ricco Ross, Julian Horton, Steven G. Norfleet, Richard Lawson, Terrell Carter, Bryan Tanaka, Charles Malik Whitfield, and Debbi Morgan.
Perry created, wrote, directed and executive produces the drama. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland serve as producers for Tyler Perry Studios.
Beauty in Black premiered in October 2024, and follows two women from different worlds leading very different lives.
Season 3 will find Kimmie finally earning a seat at the Bellarie family table. But her newfound power comes at a cost when a deadly family feud erupts, forcing her into an uneasy alliance with Mallory as blackmail, revenge and long-buried secrets threaten to destroy the family’s empire from within.
According to Netflix, season 1 of the series spent seven weeks in the streamer’s Global Top 10 and reached No. 1 in 28 countries. Season 2 remained in the Global Top 10 for six weeks and hit No. 1 in 17 countries.
Williams previously told TVLine no one in the cast understood why the hit show was canceled.
“I can honestly say that when I initially found out, I was like, ‘Wait, what?'” the actress said. “I didn’t really understand it, and I still don’t know the exact reason. As a cast, we were trying to figure out why they would they do this. But if you look at a lot of the other [original] shows on Netflix, they have around 40-something episodes. Although we’re only in Season 2, the way they split [our seasons] into Part 1 and Part 2, we’ve already done 32 episodes now. I don’t know, maybe it’s something with their algorithm.”
The third season does not yet have a release date. Details on season 4 will be announced later.
