Savannah Guthrie Makes Emotional Return to ‘Today’ After Mom’s Disappearance

Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today studios and visited colleagues for the first time since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared last month.

Nancy, 84, was last seen being dropped off at her home in Tucson, Arizona after a family dinner on Jan. 31, then did not show up for a church gathering the next morning.

After spending the past month in Arizona, Savannah was recorded at the Today Studios in New York City on Thursday, March 5.

TMZ obtained photos and video of the news anchor hugging friends and members of the staff, including a tearful Hoda Kotb, who returned to the show in Savannah’s absence.

Savannah grabbed the hand of a security staffer outside the building before being escorted to a waiting black SUV.

It’s unclear when she will return to co-anchoring the NBC morning news program.

In a video posted to social media on Feb. 24, Savannah offered a $1,000,000 reward for information on her mother’s abduction. The journalist said she had not lost hope that her mom would be found.

“We know that millions of you have been praying — so many people have been praying of every faith and no faith at all, praying for her return and we feel those prayers,” she shared. “Please keep praying without ceasing. We still believe. We still believe in a miracle. We still believe that she can come home, hope against hope, as my sister says. We are blowing on the embers of hope.”

The FBI offered a $100,000 reward for “information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.” But so far, Nancy remains missing.

Officials believe a masked man recorded tampering with her doorbell camera kidnapped the mother-of-three in the early morning hours on Feb. 1. The man is described as “approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the family members had been cleared in the case and were not suspects.

“To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel,” Nanos said in a statement. “The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple.”
