The fifth and final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan premieres in June and judging by the official teaser, the key players face collapse, bloodshed, tears, and a reckoning.

Starz released the 52-second teaser along with new photos on Friday, Feb. 27.

The video shows Kanan (Mekai Curtis) thinking about his next moves. Breeze (Shameik Moore) hovers over a chessboard, and Stefano looks like he’s ready for war.

“The money and the work — the more we got, the more we seen. It just was never gonna be enough,” Marvin (London Brown) says in a voiceover. “Ain’t never gonna fix this wrong. Ain’t never gonna fill the hole in our hearts. Maybe we’re all lost. And maybe we ain’t never gonna be found.”

In the season 4 finale, street legends “Snaps” (Wendell Pierce) and “Pop” (Erika Woods) introduced Kanan to their nephew Breeze, in hopes of forging a partnership between the young men.

In a shocking plot twist, the episode saw Kanan seemingly take out his drug dealing mom Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller). The episode ended with the screen fading to black and a gunshot going off. We won’t know if Raq survived until season 5.

According to the official description for the new season, “Kanan’s true ruthlessness takes shape. He knows exactly who he is and who he must become to defeat his enemies. Kanan solidifies his place in the Queens drug business alongside Southside legend Breeze, and their alliance sets the stage for a reckoning that will ripple through every player in this dangerous game.”

The prequel tells the story of the rise of Kanan Stark and is the second spinoff in the expanded Power universe.

Lionsgate Television produces the drama for Starz.

Creator Sascha Penn serves as showrunner and executive producer. Power creator and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp executive produces alongside Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, and Chris Selak.

The fifth and final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan premieres Friday, June 12, with new episodes streaming weekly on the Starz app as well as Starz streaming and on-demand platforms.

With the show ending, Mekai Curtis will reprise his role as Kanan in the upcoming prequel series Power: Origins. The new series will center on the backstory of Power characters James “Ghost” St. Patrick and Tommy Egan “as ambitious young entrepreneurs on the rise.”

Charlie Mann (The Watchers) will play Tommy Egan, in a role Joseph Sikora originated on Power. Spence Moore II (Creed III) has been cast as a young James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a part originated by Omari Hardwick.
