Suits LA premiered on Feb. 23, 2025. Three months later, it was gone after just 13 episodes.

Series lead Stephen Amell discussed the short-lived legal drama during a visit to the “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum” podcast and called the spinoff “a failure.”

“It wasn’t good enough,” Amell said on the Feb. 24 episode of the podcast. “Ultimately, it’s a failure. I think anything that ends not on your terms is a failure.”

The Arrow alum admitted there were “issues” behind the scenes of Suits LA, but said he  blames himself for the cancellation, especially after audiences failed to connect with his character “Ted Black.”

“Ultimately, I think the blame lies with me, whatever problem you have with the show, because I think that there were issues. It’s my job to solve those, to smooth them over, to gloss them up with some type of performance or something that, tangible or otherwise, that covers up those mistakes,” he said.

“And I didn’t do that. I didn’t find anything ultimately with Ted Black that translated, that smoothed those things over, that gave us a chance to keep going.”

Amell’s character was a former federal prosecutor from New York who reinvented himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.

Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt and Bryan Greenberg also starred. The recurring cast included Victoria Justice, Troy Winbush, Alice Lee, Rachelle Goulding, Azita Ghanizada, and Gabriel Macht.

But the show stumbled out of the gate. Despite a glossy promotional campaign, Suits LA debuted on NBC with just 2.6 million viewers. Back in February 2025, Variety reported Watson had recently aired in the same timeslot and pulled in 4.7 million viewers.

NBC greenlit Suits LA following the massive streaming success of Suits, which arrived on Netflix and Peacock in 2023. Nielsen figures showed the series reached a record 3 billion viewing minutes between the two streaming platforms in just one week.

Suits ran for nine seasons between 2011 and 2019 on USA Network. The original cast included Gabriel Macht (“Harvey Specter”), Gina Torres (“Jessica Pearson”), Patrick J. Adams (“Mike Ross”), Rick Hoffman (“Louis Litt”), Sarah Rafferty (“Donna Paulsen”), and Meghan Markle (“Rachel Zane”).

It also spawned Pearson, a spinoff centering on Torres’ character after she left New York for Chicago. The drama debuted in August 2023 and was canceled after just 10 episodes.

Suits LA was written and executive produced by Aaron Korsh. UCP, a division of the Universal Studio Group, produced the show.
