Damon Dash’s film production company drew little interest at a bankruptcy auction Tuesday in New York.
The New York Post covered the auction and reported the music mogul’s Poppington LLC sold for $100.50, after only one bidder showed up.
The sale includes rights to the 2018 film Honor Up — which starred Dash, fellow rapper Cam’ron, and Clueless actress Stacey Dash. The sequel Too Honorable was also included in the auction, along with a couple of documentaries.
The lone bidder, Muddy Water Motion Pictures CEO Mike Muntaser, has a legal claim against Dash.
“I think he’s a fool,” Muntaser told The Post about the the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder. Dash reportedly owes him $973,000, after a string of legal disputes.
Muntaser and filmmaker Josh Webber have successfully sued Dash twice for defamation over comments related to their business dealings.
The mogul has been battling the two for years over work on the independent 2019 film Dear Frank, starring Brian White, Claudia Jordan, and Columbus Short.
Webber directed the thriller and Muntaser was an executive producer. In 2022, a New York jury found Dash liable for copyright infringement related to the film, according to All Hip Hop.
Last week Webber and Muntaser filed another defamation lawsuit against Dash over comments he made during an interview on “Breakfast Club” in September 2025.
“He’s just a problem,” Muntaser told The Post. “He has an ego. I think he’s just bitter [coming] from where he was to where he is and he just blames everybody else and doesn’t look at himself in the mirror.”
Dash co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1994, with Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke.
Just a few years ago, Dash was producing movies and television shows for Fox-owned streaming platform Fox Soul via his Dame Dash Studios. He inked a deal with the company in 2021. But in 2023, Fox Soul changed leadership, had massive layoffs, and restructured its programming.
On Sept. 4, 2025, Dash submitted a Chapter 7 filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. In the filing, he reported $4,350 in assets and $25 million in debt.
That was a far cry from the Roc-A-Fella era. In 2013, BET.com reported Dash boasted he had a net worth of more than $50 million at the height of his success.
The September bankruptcy filing said his debts include taxes and fees to various government entities, including the Internal Revenue Service, New York State, New Jersey, and Los Angeles County.
Days after the filing, Dash went on “The Breakfast Club” for an interview that descended into chaos. When asked about his finances, he threatened to beat up host Charlamagne tha God.
“I can punch you right in your face like a grown man and you won’t do s–t. If we was on the street right now and you were talking like that, I would have f–ked you up,” Dash said in the viral interview.
Still, Dash may not be as broke as his court filing would suggest. Earlier today, he shared an Instagram story from a waterfront mansion as he danced and spent time with his daughter.
