Jawn Murray, an executive producer who helped launch Sherri and a frequent on-air commentator, has left the syndicated daytime talk show.
Murray, who is close friends with host Sherri Shepherd, posted a statement on Instagram last week about his departure, ahead of the upcoming season 4 premiere.
“Seasons Change: I am NOT returning for season 4 of SHERRI,” he shared. “Before you ask, yes, Sherri and I are fine! That’s one of my best friends in real life. I worked all summer to get her and aspects of the show ready for the new season.”
“I’m proud of what Sherri and I built together with this talk show. We achieved a lot in the face of considerable adversity. Thanks to all of you for the love you showed me along the way! That’s all I have for now,” Murray added.

In a story published on Monday, Sept. 8, RadarOnline reported Shepherd was “crushed” by Murray’s exit. An insider told the outlet, “This wasn’t her choice. It came from the very top.”
A show spokesperson declined to discuss the circumstances surrounding Murray’s departure.
“We can confirm that he is no longer with the show and beyond that we do not comment on personnel matters,” the spokesperson stated.
Radar said it received an email from Murray’s attorney, Trent Copeland, saying: “To be clear, the precise circumstances of his professional decisions are not your or the public’s concern.
“Mr. Murray is a respected and established media host and producer with an impeccable record. Baseless accusations or rumors from ‘sources’ that seek to discredit his career and reputation will be met with immediate and vigorous resistance.”
Copeland declined to provide further information.
Murray was the focus of a National Equirer report in June that claimed he was the subject of complaints over a video he posted online.
The executive’s clip wondered aloud about the hygiene of certain staffers. “Is this a cultural thing? I’ve been noticing that predominantly the Black people in the bathroom wash their hands and some of the others don’t.”
The Enquirer article said human resources launched an investigation into the matter after receiving employee complaints. Gossip columnist Rob Shuter broke the story that Murray was exiting the show in his newsletter on Sept. 2, and mentioned the bathroom comments as well.
Shepherd took over as permanent host of The Wendy Williams Show in 2022, after host Wendy Williams was beset with health issues, causing her show to end after 13 seasons.
A Daytime Emmy-winner and comedian, Shepherd served as an interim host in much of the final season of Williams’ show.
The new talker launched in fall 2022, and was renewed for a fourth season in March 2025.
The Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury daytime show is primarily found on Fox Television Stations, as well as those owned by Nexstar, Hearst, Sinclair, Gray, Tegna and Sunbeam for the 2025-26 season.
Sherri is the No. 2-rated syndicated talk show after Live With Kelly and Mark, among women 25-54, according to TheWrap.
“I don’t take it for granted that people welcome me into their homes daily,” Shepherd said in a statement when the show was renewed for a fourth season. “I work so hard to bring escapism to viewers’ lives through joy, laughter and inspiration, and I’m grateful that the audience has embraced what we do. I look forward to raising the bar and turning up the volume as we plan for our season four return.”
Sherri is produced in New York City’s Chelsea Studios in front of a live studio audience. Season 4 debuts on Monday, Sept. 22.
