Wendy Williams is ready to show fans how living under a legal guardianship is affecting her life.

Titled TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy, an new documentary premiered today about the former talk show host’s “restrictive guardianship” and her day-to-day life in a New York City assisted living facility.

Williams, 60, was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, according to her court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey.

The diagnosis followed her placement under guardianship in 2022, after Wells Fargo filed a petition in a New York court, citing concerns she was being financially exploited.

In the official trailer for the documentary, TMZ’s Harvey Levin asks Williams if she is allowed to go out, to which she answers, “No, in the last 30 days I went out twice.”

Levin tells the media mogul, “That sounds more like a prison than independence.”

“I want my rights back, I want my freedom back!” Williams pleads.

The former radio host also told TMZ she eats in her room because “it’s extremely depressing” to be around 90-year-olds with serious health problems.

The outlet revealed the only way they could film the doc was to have a camera placed on the sidewalk, where they recorded Williams at the window on the 5th floor of her apartment building as she spoke by phone.

The production team, according to TMZ, says she’s “back to the old Wendy.” She’s “lucid” and can “follow conversations.”

The comments are in response to Williams’ guardian, who filed court documents in November 2024 and described the media personality as “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”

Even before the documentary, Williams criticized the guardianship and its rules in a string of interviews, saying she can’t leave the facility, and she can’t receive phone calls although she can make outgoing calls.

On the Jan. 16 episode of “The Breakfast Club,” Williams told her former radio co-host Charlamagne Tha God she is not “cognitively impaired” and feels like she is “in a prison.”

Fans will hear more from Williams in TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy, which was released on Tubi Wednesday, Feb. 12.
