Will Smith plans a sequel to his 2008 superhero film Hancock and is eyeing Euphoria star Zendaya for a role.
During a live stream with xQc on Twitch, Smith discussed his upcoming projects and responded to fan questions.
“There’s a really cool, really cool, Hancock 2 idea. We haven’t even talked about it, so I’m going to give you one little piece—Zendaya will be being approached for a role in Hancock 2,” the Oscar-winning actor revealed.

The original film starred Smith as John Hancock, an amnesiac and reckless superhero struggling with alcoholism in Los Angeles.
With the help of a PR expert, played by Jason Bateman, he attempts to repair his image. A major twist reveals Bateman’s wife, portrayed by Charlize Theron, is Hancock’s immortal ex. A reunion weakens their powers, forcing them to separate.
While there’s no indication of where the story will pick up, fans are speculating that Zendaya could play Hancock’s daughter in the sequel if she decides to take on the role.
Reaction to Smith’s announcement was met with a mix of excitement and skepticism. On The Shade Room‘s Instagram page, some fans expressed enthusiasm for the long-awaited follow-up, while others criticized Smith for mispronouncing Zendaya’s name.
“Messing her name up is not a good start,” one person commented.
“Zendaya is booked and busy,” someone else chimed in, suggesting she might not have time for the film.
“Hancock Two is definitely needed,” another person added.
The first film received an underwhelming 42 percent critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 59 percent audience score.
Despite the mediocre reviews, Hancock grossed $629.4 million worldwide against a reported $150 million budget, making it the fourth highest-grossing film of 2008, according to Boxofficemojo.com.
In the same interview, Smith confirmed that Michael B. Jordan will join him in the upcoming sequel to I Am Legend.
“Me and Michael B. Jordan, we sat down for about a week, just went through character stuff, and Akiva Goldsman is the writer, so he’s putting it together,” he said.
As previously reported, the I Am Legend follow-up will be based on the alternate ending featured on the DVD — where Smith’s character survived the deadly virus.
Sounds like Will Smith is booked and busy just like Zendaya.
