Whoopi Goldberg spoke out on Tuesday’s edition of The View, saying there’s a target on the show’s back.

If The View disappears from the air, Goldberg said, it’s because the show’s hosts lost their right to free speech because of the Trump administration’s actions.

“What I really want, what I want more than anything, is I want them to stop fooling around with my right to say what I feel,” she said to applause.

“I don’t like being threatened,” Goldberg said. “I don’t like being — I don’t like people running up on me. You don’t like what I say? This is America. I grew up here, and the one thing I always knew is I had freedom of speech, and every time, every time somebody says, you know, I don’t like what they said, so I’m shutting down PBS.”

The left-leaning hosts are frequent critics of President Donald Trump and his administration.

Goldberg’s comments may be a reflection of the recent hearing on PBS and NPR federal funding held by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, an outspoken Georgia Republican.

“I don’t like what they do — those are broad strokes which have nothing to do with reality,” Goldberg said. “Because the fact of the matter is, just because you don’t hear me say it doesn’t mean I don’t feel it.”

“I remember years ago, I said to the audience, watch this space,” Goldberg’s co-host Joy Behar added. “When they tell us to keep quiet, you know we’re in trouble. Wait for it.”

Barbara Walters created the program in 1997 — creating a space for women to discuss everyday issues, share their opinions, and engage in conversations about hot topics.

In 2022, the original co-hosts reunited for a 25 year special. The program featured the show’s first moderator, Meredith Vieira, along with panelists Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Joy Behar, who has been there since the start.

In a reunion clip obtained by People, Behar said she almost lost her job in 2006 for accidentally leaking the news that Rosie O’Donnell was joining the show.

“Phone rings. ‘Hello, Joy? It’s Barbara,’” Behar said in the promo. “I said, ‘Oh hi, Barbara!’”

Walters was not pleased and replied, “I just got a call from Entertainment Tonight and guess what they said? They said, ‘Oh, and Rosie O’Donnell’s coming on the show.’ And guess who told them?”

  1. Whoopi I used to be fan of yours until you started spreading your hate. If your show disappears then it would be no loss.
