Tyler Perry’s feud with Spike Lee is a thing of the past.

The Nobody’s Fool director welcomed Lee to the star-studded grand opening of his Tyler Perry Studios this past weekend in Atlanta.

For years the two filmmakers were at odds after Lee described Perry’s Madea films as “coonery and buffoonery.”

Despite their differences, Perry named a soundstage after Lee at his sprawling 330-acre film studio.

In an interview with TMZ on Monday, Perry explained why he thought it was important to honor the Do The Right Thing director.

“I don’t care if you have beef with somebody. That is what it is,” Perry told the outlet. “The truth is you can’t deny what he has done in the film industry and how he has been on the forefront to help me and everybody else to get to the places that we are.”

Perry also said the two previously sat down to discuss their differences.

“Spike called me a few years ago and he came to my house. We sat down and had a great conversation,” he said. “The beauty is that’s what I’m hoping people will understand. Like when Oprah and I worked together it was a huge moment. With this moment for me and Spike is a huge moment.”

When Perry opened his studio on Oct. 5, he told the Associated Press at the event, “I think it’s pivotal in everything that we’ve done, everything that we’re doing still, that we continue to try to motivate and inspire people.”

The studio features twelve sound stages, with each named after acclaimed Black entertainment trailblazers including Oprah Winfrey, Cicely Tyson, Whoopi Goldberg, Diahann Carroll, Will Smith, Ruby Dee & Ossie Davis, John Singleton, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, Halle Berry, and Denzel Washington.

Attendees at the grand opening including Winfrey, Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams.
