The filmmaker is producing the long-awaited sequel.
“What I don’t want to have is Black people in seats that we weren’t ready for,” the filmmaker says.
Devale Ellis and Crystal Renee Hayslett lead the cast of the 10-episode series.
The film begins streaming September 23 on Netflix.
