This is not a trick, but it is a treat for fans. Sinners is returning to Imax and Imax 70mm screens for a special one-week Halloween run.

Imax and Warner Bros. announced the news earlier today, saying the blockbuster film will be back in theaters on Thursday, Oct. 30.

In a post on Instagram, the studio urged fans to “Experience #SinnersMovie the way it was meant to be seen” — on very big screens.

The supernatural vampire thriller from writer-director Ryan Coogler opened in April and topped the weekend box office, thanks to strong reviews and positive buzz on social media from moviegoers.

The film went on to earn $366 million worldwide, including a cool $278 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo.

Set in the 1930s Jim Crow-era South, Sinners tells a story about music, lost love, racism and segregation.

The film stars frequent Coogler collaborator, Michael B. Jordan, as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return to their Mississippi hometown for a fresh start.

After learning how the criminal underworld works from mobsters in Chicago, the brothers set their sights on opening a juke joint for Black people in the South. But they soon learn evil forces are waiting in the wings.

The cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Saul Williams, Delroy Lindo, Andrene Ward-Hammond, Li Jun Li, Tenaj L. Jackson, and Omar Benson Miller.

Moviegoers described the film on social media as “unapologetically Black,” with a “killer cast.” Critics embraced it too, giving the film a strong 97% score out of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Sinners is an entertaining cinematic experience that blends horror with a love letter to Black southern culture,” Kathia Woods of the Philadelphia Tribune wrote in her review.

“Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan deliver a vampire movie for the ages,” added Kristy Puchko of Mashable.

“As much arthouse as grindhouse, it’s a blood-drenched mix tape that shouldn’t work. But it does, thanks to Coogler’s muscular direction, a terrific cast, enveloping IMAX visuals, body-quaking sound and music that stirs the soul,” wrote David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter.

Now that Hollywood’s award season is underway, Sinners has entered the Oscars conversation.

Earlier this month, Variety ranked possible contenders for a 2026 best picture nomination and put the film third on its list — after the Leonardo DiCaprio-led thriller One Battle After Another, and period drama Hamnet from Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao.

But the Oscars are months away, and for now, the team behind Sinners is focused on scaring up Halloween ticket sales.
