Scary Movie is back and it’s so 2026.
Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for Scary Movie 6 this morning and it shows the “core 4″ — Shorty (Marlon Wayans), Ray (Shawn Wayans), Cindy (Anna Faris), and Brenda (Regina Hall) — scaring up more laughs and insults.
The video opens with masked killer “Ghostface” removing a “M3GAN” mask and stabbing a woman on a subway train.
A witness screams, “Oh my God, he stabbed her!”
Instead of crying out for help, the victim tells the witness to get their pronouns right. “Not her! My pronouns are they-them!” the victim yells.

Marlon Wayans then appears on screen and yells, “We’re back!” He’s seemingly in a basement with streamer Kai Cenat.
Later, Faris and Hall mock Republicans for being “racist” as Eminem’s “Guess Who’s Back” plays in the background.
“Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the cancel culture,” according to the official description.
The cast also includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Heidi Gardner, Lochlyn Munro, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, and Sydney Park.
It’s been 26 years since the original Scary Movie hit theaters in 2000. Keenen Ivory Wayans directed the first two films, while his brothers Marlon and Shawn helped with the writing and starred in the movies.
Miramax brought in a new creative team for the third film, which was released in 2003.
In a 2024 interview on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Marlon said now-imprisoned Miramax co-founder Harvey Weinstein stole his family’s ideas for Scary Movie 3 and the entire franchise.
“The first one, we got a crappy deal,” Marlon explained.
Thanks to the success of the first film, he said the Wayans negotiated a better deal for the second film. But after that, he alleged Harvey and his “evil, ugly” brother Bob Weinstein hijacked the franchise.
“They took it from us and gave it to somebody else because we couldn’t make a deal… and they didn’t tell us. We read about it in the papers,” Marlon told host Shannon Sharpe. “They were terrible people.”
The franchise is now back in the hands of the Wayans family, though Miramax is one of the producers.
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directed Scary Movie 6 from a script written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez.
Scary Movie 6 arrives in theaters on June 12, 2026.
