‘Rolling Ray’ Dies: Zeus Network Star and Influencer Was 28

Social media Influencer and reality TV star Juan “Raymond” Harper, known to fans as “Rolling Ray,” has died. He was age 28.

Ray passed on Wednesday, Sept. 3, just two days before his 29th birthday. Ray’s mother, Sazola Ray, shared news of his passing in a private Facebook post, according to USA Today and other outlets. No cause of death was given.

Zeus network confirmed his passing in a tribute statement early Thursday on Instagram.

“Sending our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of Raymond Harper, affectionately known as Rolling Ray on Bobby I Love You, Purrr! Your memory will forever live with us here at Zeus! May you rest in eternal peace,” the post said.

The caption to the post read: “Gone way too soon. #RestInPeace to the BIG hearted, most Raw, & Real FRIEND & #Zeus Star #RaymondHarper aka @iamrollingray. Your Laughter, Light, & Loving Spirit will Live on FOREVER!”

Chart-topping rapper Rapper Cardi B also remembered Harper on social media.

“Rolling Ray was a menace lmaoo… but he changed soo much and became so positive. I know that soul made it to heaven… You will truly be missed BIG PURRRR!!!” Cardi B posted on the X platform Thursday.

Ray used a wheelchair, hence the nickname “Rolling Ray.” He had a genetic condition known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 3, according to published reports. The condition can lead to weakness in muscles.

He was a Washington D.C. area influencer who branded himself as, “The most famous boy ina wheelchair.”  He appeared on such TV shows as MTV’s Catfish: Trolls, Divorce Court, and the Zeus network’s LGBTQ+ dating competition series, Bobby I Love You, Purrr.

Ray rose to prominence during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in the Washington, D.C. area, and built a following on Instagram (448,000) and TikTok (8,593) with his often-humorous videos and commentary on lifestyle, relationships and pop culture. 

No funeral details have been announced.
