Vince Staples’ satirical comedy series is returning for a second season on Netflix in November, the streamer announced this week.

The Vince Staples Show, a fictional series inspired by the Long Beach rapper’s life, will come back with six new episodes after generating heat on social media when it premiered in February 2024.

According to Netflix, the new season will pick up the story from where it left off. “In the wake of a tragic death, Vince embarks on a wild journey in search of inner peace. However, his path is littered with reminders of his haunted past,” the streaming giant said.

Staples leads the cast and co-created the show with Ian Edelman and Maurice Williams. Returning cast members include Vanessa Bell Calloway and Naté Jones.

Executive producers are Staples, Kenya Barris, Corey Smyth, William Stefan Smith, Andrea Sperling and Leonard Chang.

In an Aug. 19 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Staples discussed the upcoming season.

“We’re utilizing a lot of the stress and anxiety that you felt Vince deal with in season 1, and we’re gonna allow it to boil over and put him in some very interesting positions,” he said.

Set in Long Beach, the first season followed Staples’ scripted character navigating an action-packed life, from confronting bank robbers to being reprimanded by a chicken restaurant cashier.

Staples told EW that while other characters will return, “the primary focus” of season 2 will be on him.

“The main motif of the show is Vince playing fish out of water, so we’re building upon that,” he added.

On the possibility of a third season, Staples responded, “We know how this works, that’s not up to me. Hopefully people watch season 2.”

“I don’t make things for reactions. I don’t pay much attention to it, honestly. I’m just happy that people watched it and we were able to do it again,” he continued.

As previously reported, three months after the first season premiered, Netflix announced the renewal.

During that time, Staples told Netflix’s Tudum blog: “The Vince Staples Show is back! The people have spoken and the most riveting, captivating, and polarizing show on Netflix is returning for Season 2. Get ready for hijinks that only a mother can love. Thank you, Netflix!”

While fans waited for the new season, Staples released his latest album, Dark Times, last year. It followed 2022’s Ramona Park Broke My Heart.

Fans can catch up with the rapper and actor when season 2 of The Vince Staples Show premieres Nov. 6, 2025, on Netflix.
