Lifetime has scheduled the new true crime movie Girl in the Cellar for an Aug. 23 premiere.
Kyla Pratt (The Proud Family) leads the cast as Rebecca, a single mother who goes to extreme measures to control her teenage daughter.
Kelcey Mawema (Cruel Instruction) portrays her daughter Lory, who becomes trapped in a family nightmare.
After finding out Lory has a secret boyfriend, Rebecca decides to take control of her daughter’s life and confines her to their basement cellar. Rebecca survived her own traumatic past and is now passing that generational trauma down.
“What Lory doesn’t know is that this is the same cellar where Rebecca was held captive by her abusive father years ago. As Lory battles for survival, neighbors begin to notice her absence and Rebecca’s behavior draws suspicion, making her a prime suspect in her daughter’s disappearance,” according to the official description.
