For the past 16 seasons, Kenan Thompson has been a regular on Saturday Night Live.
But after landing a role as a judge on the upcoming NBC comedy competition series, Bring The Funny, there were whispers he might exit SNL.
Thompson put the rumors to rest Friday when he stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Noting that he’s been on the NBC sketch comedy series with three different presidents in the White House, host Ellen DeGeneres asked Thompson if he planned to stay on SNL through the 2020 election cycle.
“Oh I would love it. I would love that,” Thompson said. “Hopefully it will be in 2020, but we’ll see what happens.”
The Emmy winner described working on the show as his dream job.
“It’s the best job in the world,” he said. “I can’t see myself just walking away from it like that. Even with how busy I’ve been lately. I’m doing another show on NBC called Bring the Funny.”
The new series is hosted by comedian Amanda Seales with Thompson, comedy veteran Jeff Foxworthy and Chrissy Teigen serving as judges.
The show will follow comedy acts as they perform in front of an audience for a chance to win $250,000, NBC announced earlier this year. The series debuts July 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
In 2017, Thompson became the longest-tenured cast member on SNL.
