Jennifer Lopez is no stranger to romantic comedies. But the actress says her upcoming Netflix film Office Romance is different.
Lopez and Brett Goldstein, of Ted Lasso fame, co-star in the racy rom-com about a secret office romance. The actress shared details about the film on the red carpet at Netflix’s Upfront presentation in New York City on Wednesday, May 13.
“I am very excited about this movie. I haven’t done a romantic comedy in a, I don’t know, like five or six years, since Marry Me,” she said.

Lopez dressed to impress for the event in a pale pink corset-type suit. She upped the sex appeal — and nearly suffered a wardrobe malfunction — by going without a blouse underneath the plunging blazer. According to Page Six, the ensemble was vintage Jean Paul Gaultier.
After posing for pictures with Goldstein, she said the British actor co-wrote the film with her in mind.
“I love the script, and it was amazing working with Brett. We had a great time,” she shared.
Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, the workaholic CEO of an aviation company, who develops feelings for a new employee named Daniel Blanchflower (Goldstein). It doesn’t take long for sparks to fly.
Known as a queen of early 2000s rom-coms, her previous films include The Wedding Planner (2001) opposite Matthew McConaughey; Maid in Manhattan (2002) with Ralph Fiennes; Shall We Dance? (2004) with Richard Gere, Monster-in-Law (2005) with Michael Vartan and Jane Fonda, and years later Marry Me (2022) with Owen Wilson.
She said Office Romance pushes the envelope more than the previous films.
“It’s a little different than my other romantic comedies, in that it’s a little bit like harder jokes, a little edgier, but fun, modern, and classic,” she explained. “I just know that a lot of my fans, they really love when I do these type of movies, and I love when I do these type of movies.”
Office Romance is directed by Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) from a script Goldstein penned with Joe Kelly. Lopez, Goldstein, and Kelly produced the comedy, alongside Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swett, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina.
The star-studded cast includes Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Jodie Whittaker, Mary Wiseman, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, and Edward James Olmos who plays Lopez’s dad, like he did in the 1997 biopic, Selena.
Viewers will also spot Tony Plana, Roger Bart, Rick Hoffman, Jackie Sandler, Michelle Hurd, Ali Stroker, Lisa Gilroy, Will Sasso, Donald Elise Watkins, Natalie Ortega, Brian Gallivan, Scott Seiss, and Mo Welch in the film.
Office Romance begins streaming June 5, 2026 on Netflix. Check out the interview below with Jennifer Lopez on the red carpet.
