Federal prosecutors are urging an appeals court to reject Sean “Diddy” Combs’ third bail request, because they say he poses a grave risk to the community.

In a new court filing on Wednesday, Oct. 16, prosecutors alleged the music mogul has a history of witness tampering and should not be released before his May 2025 trial on sex trafficking charges.

“Combs’s longstanding and sophisticated methods of obstructing justice and silencing witnesses more than established his dangerousness,” read the filing obtained by the New York Times.

The rapper and producer has been denied bail by two different federal judges. Still, his attorneys have taken their fight for bond to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Prosecutors said the lower court judges made the right move by denying bail.

“The District Court rightly rejected Combs’s effort to pay his way out of detention,” prosecutors wrote in their latest filing, “when the record established that no set of conditions could ensure the safety of the community.”

Diddy was arrested on Sept. 16, and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The mogul pleaded not guilty, but remains jailed at the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.

His legal team argued the prosecution’s previous assertion that Diddy allegedly tried to obstruct justice was based on speculation, not evidence.

The defense proposed $50 million bail, home detention at his estate in Miami, and GPS monitoring. The 54-year-old mogul also said he wouldn’t have “women visit” his home.

Following his second bail hearing on Sept. 18, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo told reporters the defense would not be deterred.

“The fight continues. We’re not giving up by a long shot,” he said. “We’re going to fight this case with all of our might until we don’t have to fight any longer.”

In addition to his criminal case, Diddy is facing at least 19 civil lawsuits alleging sexual abuse, with seven filed over the past week.

In the latest complaint, filed on Oct. 15 in federal court in California, a woman named Ashley Parham alleged in 2018 that the mogul orchestrated a gang rape, doused her with drug-laced oil, and forcibly penetrated her with a TV remote control.

Diddy’s attorneys have not responded to the complaint.
