Chris Brown was taken into custody by police in Paris, after he was accused of aggravated rape and drug infractions, according to published reports.

The 29-year-old performer was detained on Monday along with his bodyguard and another person after an unidentified woman accused Brown of raping her in a hotel room last week, The Associated Press reported, citing unnamed police sources.

Brown remained in custody Tuesday. Investigators have another two days to decide if they’ll file preliminary charges or let him go.

The woman who filed the complaint said she met the Loyal singer overnight between January 15-16 at a club near the Champs-Elysees, according to the AP. The group then went to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in central Paris, where the woman alleged the rape occurred.

Brown’s publicists at Sony Music would not comment Tuesday.

The Grammy-winning singer, who frequently updates his fans on social media, posted a picture of himself in Paris at a dance rehearsal. He included the caption: “Got me working IN PARIS….”

Brown has faced a series of legal troubles dating back to 2009, when he was arrested in Los Angeles for physically assaulting then-girlfriend, Rihanna, during an argument.

He pleaded guilty to felony assault and was sentenced to five years probation with six months of community service.

The singer continues to release new music, including his single Undecided, which debuted on Jan. 4.
