The Hollywood Walk of Fame honored Brandy on Monday, with a star on the famous landmark.
The singer, actress and producer was joined by friends and family members as she unveiled the star recognizing her three-decade career in the entertainment industry.
“I’m from McComb, Mississippi. Let that sink in,” she told the audience.
Brandy, 47, shared a story about coming Los Angeles as a girl in the seventh grade and growing up outside Los Angeles in Carson, California.
“Back then, I was just a little girl with a big dream, but growing up in Hollywood made those dreams feel close enough to touch,” she said.
At times emotional, Brandy marveled at the honor and joked about sirens in the area drowning out her speech.
“I am beyond grateful. I have always believed my mark in this industry could be something meaningful and lasting,” she told the audience.
“A star on the Walk of Fame is a definition of legacy. It doesn’t just celebrate your success, it cements your story,” she continued. “It is a symbol that says, you didn’t just arrive, you endured. You didn’t just dream, you became. To me, this honor reflects the greats.”

Dressed in elegant black slacks, paired with a fashionable grey blouse and black hat, she was joined by Issa Rae and Babyface, who both spoke at the ceremony.
Brandy’s mother Sonja Norwood and daughter Sy’rai Smith were seated in the audience, along with fellow singers Monica and Kehlani, and actress Jenifer Lewis.
The “I Wanna Be Down” songstress was awarded a star in the recording category. Located at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard, it is the 2,839th star on the Walk of Fame.

Born Brandy Norwood, the Grammy-winning artist has been bringing music to audiences since the 1990s. Her self-titled debut album was released in 1994, and sold more than 4 million copies.
She followed it up with the sophomore album Never Say Never, which reached diamond status after selling more than 15 million copies worldwide.
Her single “The Boy Is Mine” with Monica spent 13 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The two singers reunited last year for a multi-city tour.
Brandy also has a successful acting career. From 1996 to 2001, she starred on the popular UPN sitcom, Moesha, and later on others shows.
In December 2025, she executive produced and co-starred alongside her daughter Sy’Rai in the Lifetime movie Christmas Everyday.
Monday’s star ceremony was held one day before Brandy’s memoir Phases his released on March 31. You can watch the full ceremony on the Walk of Fame’s YouTube channel.
