It’s the end of the road for BET+.
Parent company Paramount Skydance is shutting down the streaming service and folding its content into Paramount+ this June.
Paramount bought out Tyler Perry’s minority stake in BET+ as part of the transition.
Perry has had an ownership stake in the platform since it launched in 2019.
“Beginning in June, we are expanding our reach by making Paramount+ the new home for BET+ content. This powerful next step ensures the stories we champion, the creators we support and the culture we represent go further than ever before,” BET Networks President Louis Carr said in a memo to staff on Friday, March 13.

Carr said the BET cable network, its production arm BET Studios, and BET digital properties will continue operating.
“BET is a cornerstone of Black culture and an essential part of Paramount’s portfolio and long-term content strategy,” he stated.
“BET’s linear channel will continue to have a strong presence, and BET Studios remains fully active, producing the compelling, creator-driven content that defines who we are. BET Digital remains central to our multiplatform strategy as well, driving real-time conversation, audience engagement and measurable growth across social and emerging platforms.”
Carr noted that BET+ content will be “clearly branded, prominently featured and easy to find in the BET Hub” on Paramount+.
He mentioned The Ms. Pat Show, Diarra From Detroit, Zatima, Average Joe, and All the Queen’s Men, which show creator Christian Keyes said in January will end with season 5.
There was no mention of the popular Family Business; its spinoff The Family Business: New Orleans, Sistas, Divorced Sistas, or family comedy Churchy.
BET+ launched in September 2019, with programming from Perry, Will Packer, Tracy Oliver and other African American content creators, along with existing shows like Martin and BET’s Comic View.
In August 2025, Urban Hollywood 411 interviewed Jason Harvey, executive vice president and general manager of BET+, after Skydance completed its $8 billion acquisition of Paramount Global on Aug. 7.
We asked about the future of BET+ and its programming geared toward the Black community.
“My goal is to continue to grow, continue to provide audiences with original programming that resonates, that’s relevant and authentic, and continue to serve our audience with the best in Black storytelling,” Harvey said.
He dismissed a question about improving the quality of content on the platform and placing greater emphasis on shows that might resonate more with awards voters — in turn bringing more attention to the programs.
“I’ll tell you; we’ve had four Emmy nominations over the last five years. We’ve only been around for five and a half years,” he said.
“What’s more important for us is, how do we provide authentic storytelling that connects with specific audiences,” Harvey told us. “Whether it’s audiences that are into drama, or into comedy, we lean into those types of titles to allow us to kind of provide a breadth of content, not just zero in on specific content for one specific audience.”
