Prime Video has unveiled the premiere date for The Greatest, an upcoming scripted series about the life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
The authorized drama will debut ahead of the holiday season on Nov. 4, 2026, the streaming service announced over the weekend at the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans.
The announcement came during a panel discussion about bringing the sports icon’s life and legacy to the screen. Panelists included creator, showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins, alongside Jaalen Best, who portrays Cassius Clay and Muhammad Ali.
Also joining the conversation were cast members Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Michael Ealy as festival attendees were given a first look at a teaser trailer for the series.
The show’s main cast additionally features Aleks Paunovic as William Faversham Jr.; Erica Tazel as Geraldine Liston; Giovanni Ribisi as Angelo Dundee; Omari Hardwick as Cassius Marcellus Clay Sr.; and Reno Wilson as Bundini Brown.
The Greatest will explore “the victories and defeats that made Ali a legend, both in and out of the ring,” according to the official description.
Ben Watkins executive produced the drama through Blue Monday Productions alongside Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society. Additional producers include Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Polygram Entertainment and Grace: A Storytelling Company.
The boxing legend’s widow, Lonnie Ali, also serves as an executive producer alongside executive producers Elizabeth Raposo, Corey Salter, Marc Rosen, Matthew Gross, Aiyana White, Jeff Augustin, Owen Shiflett, Michele Anthony, Boyd Muir, David Blackman, Stefano Agosto, and Josh Wakely.
The series comes six years after One Night in Miami from director Regina King debuted in 2020. The Oscar-nominated film told a fictional account of one night where cultural icons Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown gathered to discuss their roles in the Civil Rights Movement.
The Greatest is the first authorized scripted series about the life of Muhammad Ali, and the production team was given unprecedented access by his family.
The series will premiere globally Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, on Prime Video.
