Fans of lifestyle guru B. Smith are furious her husband has admitted he moved his new girlfriend into the home he shares with his Alzheimer’s-stricken wife.
Dan Gasby, 64, defended the living arrangement in an interview earlier this week with The Washington Post.
“If ‘This Is Us’ and ‘Modern Family’ came together, it would be us,” he told the outlet.
His girlfriend, Alex Lerner, addressed their relationship and Gasby’s 26-year marriage in the article.
“This is not a man cheating on his wife,” Lerner, 53, said. “What I admire about him is that he takes care of her.”

Smith and Gasby have been married since 1992. The former model, author and lifestyle expert was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2013.
Gasby often shares photos on social media of his wife and his girlfriend spending time together. While Smith is almost always smiling in the pictures, the reality is she may not understand what’s going on.
Lerner frequently makes the drive from her Manhattan home to the Smith-Gasby residence in East Hampton, New York, and has a room in the house. She said she helps care for 69-year-old Smith.
The lifestyle guru’s fans believe she deserves better, and have taken to social media to share their feelings.
“B. Smith’s husband is scum imo,” one person tweeted.
Another person suggested Smith would not approve of Dan having a girlfriend, and pointed out a line from the article that said: “When B. was lucid, she and Dan sometimes clashed over his flirtations.”
Someone else noted that Gasby is still married and referred to him as “trash.”
Gasby has since taken to the couple’s shared Facebook page to thank his supporters and to respond to his critics.
“To all those who are living my life situation and texted and called me last night with words of support. I deeply appreciate your words of support and advice,” he wrote Wednesday.
“As those of you who know me you also know B would be amazed and disappointed by the response of some people. I on the other hand knew what to expect and will keep on keeping on! I just wonder if B was in the same situation would these same people lash out at her!” he added.
Gasby’s latest comments drew more angry responses from Smith’s fans.
