It’s no secret production continues to decline in Hollywood. That’s why actor Danny Pintauro has been keeping busy by working as an Amazon delivery driver.
Pintauro, 50, shared details about his day job in an Instagram post on Wednesday April 8, and included a picture of himself delivering packages.
The former child star kept things real in the caption for the post.
“Working hard while ‘not working.’ The entertainment business has been soooo slow, so I’ve been doing what a lot of people do — figuring it out, showing up, and taking the work that’s there while I keep building the work I really want. 38 packages today!” he shared. “There’s no shame in staying in motion.”
The post quickly went viral. As of Friday evening, it had more than 5,000 likes. It also caught the attention of several journalists, who’ve been writing articles on the actor.
He played Jonathan Bower, son of Judith Light’s Angela Bower on Who’s the Boss?, which ran on ABC from 1984 to 1992. The family comedy also starred Tony Danza, Alyssa Milano, and the late Katherine Helmond.
Pintauro is not alone when it comes to Hollywood talent getting creative to find work.
On March 18, Variety published a story saying Los Angeles area soundstages are “struggling” to lease space to film and TV productions. Citing FilmLA, the nonprofit that issues filming permits in L.A. County, the outlet said soundstage occupancy in the region fell to 62% in the first half of 2025. Compare that to 2018, when soundstage occupancy was at 95%.
Industry analysts blame red tape to obtain filming permits, the high cost of shooting in California, and the Hollywood strikes in 2023, which prompted some productions to start shooting abroad.
The report noted that L.A. County is still the “world leader in terms of available stage space, with 8.3 million square feet of total stage space.” But the region is facing intense competition from New York, the U.K., and other countries.
