Toni Braxton is adding more titles to her movie library at Lifetime.
This week, Lifetime announced details on the upcoming films He Wasn’t Man Enough and Breathe Again, both inspired by the Grammy-winning singer’s chart-topping singles.
Braxton will executive produce and lead the cast of both films, which the network says focus on “strength, sisterhood, and second chances.”
First up is He Wasn’t Man Enough, debuting on Nov. 22 as part of Lifetime’s romance movie slate.
The cast includes Essence Atkins (Poppa’s House) and Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), with Braxton playing a bestselling author named Mel Montgomery.

Mel discovers her boyfriend Richard (Thomas Cadrot of The Night Agent) has a whole other life, and is engaged to her estranged college friend Monica (Atkins). Instead of fighting with each other, the two women band together in solidarity. With help from Mel’s best friend Candy (Brown), they decide to show Richard he “picked the wrong trio to mess with.”
Toni Braxton’s He Wasn’t Man Enough debuts Saturday, Nov. 22 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
The second film will premiere in 2026. Toni Braxton’s Breathe Again reunites Braxton and Atkins, with NAACP Image Award winner Cree Summer (Rugrats and A Difference World) joining the cast.
Per Lifetime, “The film follows three women — Jennifer (Braxton), Vanessa (Summer), and Evelyn (Atkins) — who meet as contestants on a reality dating show and suffer heartbreak under the spotlight. Their shared rejection sparks an unlikely sisterhood that carries them from Los Angeles to a new life in Seattle. There, they navigate fresh starts, second chances, and the messy, hilarious realities of dating, friendship, and family.”
Both movies are executive produced by Toni Braxton, Tanya Lopez, and Kenneth Crear for Lifetime. Stan Brooks directs and executive produces He Wasn’t Man Enough from a script by Aireka Muse, Tara Knight, and Angela Nissel.
Nikita Hamilton wrote the script for Breathe Again, which Brooks is also directing and executive producing
As previously reported, Braxton has a long-running deal with Lifetime to produce movies focusing on women.
Some of the previous titles include Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart; Faith Under Fire: The Antoinette Tuff Story; Every Day is Christmas; and A Christmas Spark featuring former Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman stars Jane Seymour and Joe Lando reuniting on screen.
Braxton also executive produced and starred in The films Fallen Angels Murder Club: Friends to Die For and Fallen Angels Murder Club: Heroes and Felons as part of Lifetime’s Broader Focus initiative, which supports the hiring of women in key production roles.
Since partnering with Lifetime she has been able to create opportunities in front of and behind the camera for women of color.
Braxton expanded her deal with the network in 2023, to executive produce multiple projects for the cable network and sister channel A+E.
“Lifetime has been home to my film and TV projects for the past decade. My team and I are looking forward to continued success with the network as we bring projects to life for the audience that has so graciously welcomed us into their homes over the years,” she said at the time.
Her production company, Braxtoni, is headquartered at Lifetime’s Los Angeles offices.
