Is TLC singer Chilli secretly a MAGA supporter? The “No Scrubs” singer  insisted she doesn’t support President Trump after reports surfaced saying she donated to MAGA Republicans, and reshared a conspiracy theory about former first lady Michelle Obama on social media.

The songstress, born Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, came under scrutiny this weekend when The Independent published a report on Saturday, March 28, citing FEC filings that showed a Rozonda Thomas of Stone Mountain, Georgia, made multiple donations to MAGA-friendly groups during the 2024 election cycle totaling about $1,000.

The outlet published the filings online showing Thomas sent $210.60 to WinRed, a payment processor for Republican campaign donations; plus $340.60 to the Trump National Committee JFC, Inc; and $486.54 to Never Surrender Inc., a Republican political fundraising group.

As fans searched her social media pages, they found a debunked conspiracy theory claiming former first lady Michelle Obama was a transgender man registered to vote in Illinois in 1994.

The post has since been deleted, but The Neighborhood Talk reshared it on Instagram. As the controversy erupted, Chilli insisted she doesn’t back the Trump administration’s policies.

“I WANT TO BE CLEAR: I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people,” the singer wrote in a statement on Instagram Saturday.

“I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans,” she added. “Two things I care deeply about as my dad is a veteran and everyone knows I love children. I have learned a valuable lesson and ask for grace as I navigate this.”

The singer’s post included a separate video saying she did not mean to insult Michelle Obama.

“Let me say this first: I have the utmost respect and admiration for Michelle Obama, and I would never say or do anything that is disrespectful to her or to any woman,” she said in the video.

The singer insisted she doesn’t really know how reposting on social media works.

“I’m not very computer-savvy, so I’m looking for this repost button, and I see that all of these buttons are very, very close to each other, and clearly I was scrolling and my thumb hit the repost button. Again, I had no clue that something like this happened until I got all the calls,” she said.

Chilli said she previously donated to both of former President Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns.

The controversy could not have come at a worse time for the singer as TLC prepares to go on tour with En Vogue and Salt-N-Pepa later this year.
