The music of TLC will “Creep” to the stage next year when Crazysexycool – The TLC Musical makes its world premiere.

The musical will debut at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., and run from June 12, 2026 through Aug. 9, the theater announced Monday, as it unveiled its 2025-2026 season.

Chloe O. Davis is set to choreograph Crazysexycool – The TLC Musical.

The production is described as a “semi-biographical musical about the most
successful female group.”

The musical will be written and directed by actor and playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah, who was previously artistic director of the Young Vic theatre in London and the Center Stage Theater in Baltimore.

“TLC is synonymous with rebellion—using their art to challenge, subvert, and entertain,” Kwei-Armah said in a statement. “Why a musical? Why now? Their lives need to be sung. It’s about that time!”

Formed in Atlanta in 1990, TLC was founded by Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

The trio sold more than 85 million records worldwide and won four Grammy Awards.

Over the years, their music included the #1 singles “Creep,” “Waterfalls,” “No Scrubs,” and “Unpretty.”

But with the success, came internal fallouts, bankruptcy, and illness. When Left Eye died in a car accident in 2002, the group faced an uncertain future.

Now, the remaining members continue to perform together, and in 2023, they produced the Lifetime documentary TLC Forever about the group’s rise, conflicts and resilience.
