The hosts of The View say the signs are all there that Donald Trump will challenge the U.S. Constitution and seek a third term as president. But they’re urging Americans to fight back.
In addition to selling “Trump 2028” hats, Trump strategist Steve Bannon recently told The Economist the Trump team is already laying the groundwork to remain in power.
“He’s going to get a third term, Trump is going to be president in 2028,” Bannon said. “There’s many different alternatives. At the appropriate time, we’ll lay out what the plan is, but there is a plan.”
The View producers played a clip of Bannon’s comments on the Monday, Oct. 27 episode of the daytime talk show and the hosts sounded off.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who worked on the communications team during Trump’s first term in the White House, called Bannon’s comments “concerning.”
“I know Donald Trump well enough to believe this isn’t a guy who’s going to be a lame duck after the midterms,” Griffin said. “He’s not going to let the center of gravity shift to JD Vance or Marco Rubio while he fades into the distance. So, it’s something to keep an eye on. I find it concerning.”
Former federal prosecutor Sunny Hostin noted the Twenty-Second Amendment clearly states: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
Still, Hostin admitted she doesn’t think that will stop Trump and cited his decision to demolish the East Wing of the White House as evidence.
“He’s done everything that people thought he would never do,” she said. “I’ve actually come to the conclusion that he is going to try to remain in power. Remember, that East Wing? It’s going to take a long time to build that. He’s hooking up the White House because he doesn’t plan on leaving it.”
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg agreed.
“I told y’all that years ago! He’s not going anywhere. He said it, ‘I want to be president for life,'” she said.
Republican strategist Ana Navarro criticized the GOP for not pushing back against Trump’s “crazy abuses of power.”
“Republicans do not fall asleep on this,” Navarro said.
Sara Haines admitted she hopes Trump will be “stopped in the courts.”
But Goldberg warned hope is not the answer, and said voters need to take action.
“He’s going to try everything he can do and he doesn’t care what we think. He’s going to do this,” Goldberg said. “There needs to be opposition. People have to make decisions around the country about who they’re voting into office.”
She urged the electorate to question politicians about Trump’s plans and if they don’t express opposition — vote them out of office.
