The View skipped the hottest topic in entertainment for the past two days, and fans are disappointed.

The hosts of the daytime talk show steered clear of ABC’s decision on Wednesday to “indefinitely” suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! following comments the host made about right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk’s death, and pressure from local TV station owners with ties to the Trump administration.

On Thursday’s episode of The View, which also airs on ABC, hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin discussed other big stories in the “Hot Topics” segment, but ignored the Kimmel situation.

Viewers sounded off on social media, with one superfan tweeting: “Holy moly! I have been watching The View since day one. Not one mention of Jimmy Kimmel, the top story today. Nothing! Two of them are stand-up comedians so I know they have a lot to say. I’m beyond disappointed. I will be canceling Disney + and Hulu.”

The hosts skipped the story again Friday, and instead focused on celebrity news and politics.

The lack of Kimmel coverage on Sept. 19 came after Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr suggested The View should be investigated by the federal government.

In an interview on conservative commentator Scott Jenning’s podcast, Carr said it would worth checking to see if the daytime show meets the government’s standard of a news program.

“I think it’s worthwhile to have the FCC look into whether ‘The View,’ and some of these other programs that you have, still qualify as bona fide news programs and therefore are exempt from the equal opportunity regime that Congress has put in place,” Carr said in the interview via Politico.

Meanwhile, Hollywood insider and gossip columnist Rob Shuter reported Friday on his “Naughty But Nice” Substack newsletter that executives at The View “are spooked” by everything that’s happening.

“Whoopi and Joy wanted to weigh in — but were told no,” a source told Shuter about the show’s handling of Kimmel’s suspension.

Shuter even went as far as to say The View is considering moving away from politics, which sets it apart from other daytime chat shows.

“ABC is quietly planning a major overhaul of The View, dialing down political fireworks in favor of safer lifestyle fare like cooking, fashion, celebrity interviews, and travel,” he reported.

The network is facing scrutiny from angry viewers and Hollywood insiders too — with protests on the streets of entertainment hubs L.A. and New York, and fury from labor unions.

The Writers Guild of America, which represents writers on late-night shows, blasted ABC for “corporate cowardice.”

“The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other – to disturb, even – is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice,” the WGA said in a statement.

“Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth, As for our employers, our words have made you rich. Silencing us impoverishes the whole world,” the statement continued. “The WGA stands with Jimmy Kimmel and his writers.”

SAG-AFTRA, which represents actors and hosts, said it “condemns the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“Democracy thrives when diverse points of view are expressed,” the union said in a statement. “The decision to suspend airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! is the type of suppression and retaliation that endangers everyone’s freedoms.
