The Soul Mate Experiment, an upcoming romantic comedy starring Erica Peeples, Brad James, David Banner, and Teresa Celeste, has wrapped production.

The film follows Tammy (Erica Peeples) and Vincent (Brad James), two strangers who decide to skip the small talk and formalities, and delve into a relationship.

“What begins as a bold social experiment quickly evolves into an emotional journey filled with laughter, revelations, and hard truths about what it truly means to love and be loved,” according to the official description.

Alongside Tammy and Vincent’s romance, the film takes on the complexities of marriage through Trey (David Banner) and Angie (Teresa Celeste), a couple confronting their own struggles five years after tying the knot.

The comedy also stars Cocoa Brown, Rodney Perry, Tre Ryan, Keith Arthur Bolden, and Y’Anna Crawley.

The Soul Mate Experiment comes from Hidden Gem Entertainment and Silver Lining Entertainment; and is written, directed, and executive produced by Hidden Gem founder Tamera Hill (Never Heard).

“The Soul Mate Experiment is a heartfelt romantic drama that explores whether love is destiny or design. Through laughter, healing, and the unexpected power of connection, it reminds us that sometimes the greatest experiment is simply following your heart,” Hill said in a statement to Urban Hollywood 411.

“I’m so excited to deliver a soulful, contemporary love story that authentically explores both singleness and married life,” she added.

Angela White produced the film. White has nearly four dozen credits, and most recently produced Lifetime’s Terry McMillan Presents: Preach, Pray, Love, and the network’s two-part movie event Friends and Lovers.

“I truly enjoyed collaborating with a fellow African American woman who is passionate about telling universal stories that speak to the heart,” White said. “Working on this film was a reminder of the power of representation and the beauty of shared vision.

The comedy will be released in 2026. An exact premiere date and distribution platform will be announced later.
